11.2K minutes is definitely a low stat but considering the fact that I frequented two other streaming platforms probably makes my case.
My first reaction to the Spotify Wrapped release was anger - I have been waiting for the past two weeks, endured countless ad teasers from Spotify about the incoming Wrapped and the day it came upon us like a thief in the day, I was out sick.
It's a Wednesday afternoon and I was just coming back from the clinic after getting treated and I didn't touch my phone - I woke up at night and realised that Spotify Wrapped was released hours earlier. So basically, it came at the very first time in weeks that I've been asleep at noon. Again, thief by noon.
My second reaction was disappointment.
I do think that the graphics were awesome - probably better than last year's but the indepth data we used to get wasn't there anymore. I saw this report on Threads that it was due to Spotify laying off their staff that worked on genre classification.
I'm not saying that I believe it but WAIT A MINUTE! I didn't even get my Podcast Wrapped.
God knows I wanted to see that because I wanted to share it more than anything else because my Top 5 artists will most likely include someone whose guts I hate.
Talking about Top artists;
Everyone close to me knows how much I love Hillsong - I came across them in 2022 and it's been an adorable journey together. Actually, I appreciated bands more because of them.
Davido found a way to sneak into my top 5 artists and I hate myself for it. Toxic relationship.
Top Songs
Thank you Jesus: I found this song in March on Roberto Firmino’s Instagram Reel, fell in love with it, shazamed it, added it to my favourite playlist and it has been there ever since.
The Power of Your Love: Seeing it here made me realise that my streams from October didn't really count.
I switched to the original version made by Hillsong Worship and Darlene Zschech and have probably streamed it more than Don Moen's version. But it's cool, both are dear to me.
3-5: I've already talked about Euphoria in YouTube Recap ‘24.
Darlene Zschech did it for me in “At The Cross” and I love the affirmations in “Christ is Enough”.
In all, I think it was a decent music year for me. I listened only for 1500+ minutes last year and almost 10x’d it this year.
My 2025 Wrapped Prediction:
Top Artists: Hillsong Worship, Charity Gayle, Darlene Zschech, Brooke Ligertwood.
Top Song: Hillsong Worship and Charity Gayle’s music will probably be in an Alonso v Max Verstappen Monaco Qualifying kind of battle for pole position.
Purchasing the premium subscription for Spotify this year's third quarter really helped. Technically, I haven't paid a dime yet since I'm on free trial till December 14th but I'm prepared to be billed going forward at least until I get a card that is acceptable by YouTube Music.
My Wrapped playlist is available on Spotify. I'll be sharing it here and I look forward to listening to your playlist as well. (You can reply to this email).

Next time, I'll talk about how I'm probably digging unhinged content creators.
Song of the day: I Speak Jesus by Charity Gayle.
