Few months ago, my laptop's touchpad suddenly stopped working - yes, the area that controls the on-screen cursor.
Prior to that, there has always been a spot on that touchpad that I've tried several times to clean off but it wouldn't just come off.
When my touchpad stopped working, that spot started emitting a yellow light - then, I realized that the spot wasn't some dirt. It was part of my computer but I never knew and I've used that laptop for over 2 years.
I tried everything I could just to get the touchpad to respond to me but all to no avail.
It continued for days and mehn, it was like hell.
I had to rely on my keyboard to use my computer. I finally brought myself together to tell my mom about the challenge I was having.
She was equally confused - we haven't seen a precedent of this kind of problem and we were also afraid of taking it to a workshop. I believe that once your computer or phone is dissembled and put together again in a workshop or anywhere, it's as good as gone.
I managed the computer like that for a while but my frustrations grew worse.
One day, I frantically tapped repeatedly on the touchpad in desperation and suddenly, the yellow spot light went off.
When the yellow light went off, my touchpad started working again.
I didn't know what I did. I suppressed the will to know exactly what I did. In programming, we say, "If you don't know how you got it working, don't touch the codes".
I tried to abide by this rule but one day, I couldn't.
I tapped on that spot on my touchpad twice and the yellow light came on and the touchpad stopped working again.
I tapped twice on the spot again and the yellow light went off. I was stupefied a little bit.
It took me more than 24 months with that computer to find out what that spot was. The fact that I considered taking it to a workshop for dissembling made me cringe. The computer didn't have a problem. I was just ignorant.
We learn everyday.
